Music I've Saved!!
Music is something that I love! If you guys don't know me very well, you probably have no idea how addicted I am to music. I love exploring new artists, and I listen to countless playlists on spotify, 8tracks, and YouTube on the daily.. plus I drive a lot for work, so the radio is a dear friend.
I thought it would be funny to post a blog where I just mention some of the songs that I've taken screen shots of in the last few weeks! You know that we all do this! If there is a song that is playing that you're like WOW this is good, you take a screen shot and then you can find it at a later time! My problem is that I normally screen shot the song and then I forget all of the stuff that I have pictures of... no wonder my iPhone memory is always filling up! I also do this with different box subscriptions, but that is another guilty pleasure that should probably have its own dedicated blog post. To some of you this post may be super random and weird, but music is something that I really enjoy, and discovering new music is even more fun. Enjoy!
AJR: Weak
I first discovered AJR on the radio when I heard their song Sober Up, which is another really great song! Very catchy! This song definitely fits the whole pop electronic feel that is really big right now. The lyrics aren't the most unique, but the feel of the music video, the beats, and everything put together creates a great song that is easy to play when you need to just dance around the room and just scream the lyrics.... or am I the only one who does that? Out of all the recent music discoveries, AJR is definitely one of my favorites. Honestly.... since starting to write this blog post, I've already listened to this song three times! OR MAYBE 4 times... We are still counting
Lyric Snippet:
No thank you is what I should've said.
I should be in be in bed
But temptations of trouble on my tongue
Troubles yet to come
Tatiana Manaois: Helplessly
This is not a new song, but a new discovery for me! It is one of those songs that are just so cute! Sometimes the best songs are just a voice and a guitar! Josh and I actually danced to this song in our living room because it was so cute. I think if a song causes you to move, it must be good.
Lyric Snippet:
It's not that easy with you here But I know I want you to stay See, this could be us in a few years But just tell me, you like to play
Jessarae: Milk & Honey
I believe I first discovered this song when I was listening to an indie mix by Alex Bird on YouTube. If you like indie music, you will love Alex Bird. He puts out monthly indie playlists and themes them for the season. He also puts some out like a Sunday morning playlists or road trip playlists. Almost all of them are amazing (but obviously with playlists there are some songs you may not always love. This song reminds me a lot of Hozier's style. I love me some nice indie folk music, and this one definitely fits the description. The singer looks like he is 14 years old, but he can definitely sing!
Lyric Snippet:
Slow cherry and lay me down oh She's coming to set me free And oh I was lost, now I'm found The spirit will move in me
Never Shout Never: Red Balloon
If you don't recognize this artist, then were you even a teenager?! Never Shout Never was one of my favorite artists in middle school and early High School, but I think for a while he dropped off the music scene and decided to work on different content. I found this song a few weeks ago and was reminded of how much I enjoyed this band and the unique and SUPER catchy songs that they come up with! Right now he is actually putting together two new albums, one of them being a cover album.. I cannot wait!! Never Shout Never will intoxicate you with his lyrics, his fun melodies, and the uniqueness that is found in all of his content. Some songs that I loved from him in the olden days were Jane Doe, Trouble, Big City Dreams, First dance.. and lets be honest.. I was in love with his music! The lyric snippet may sound slightly depressing, but I promise it is an upbeat song!
Lyric Snippet:
Why can't I cut the ribbon tied around my neck? Then maybe I could finally breathe Then maybe I could finally see The bigger picture staring back at me
WILD: Throw me in the Water
This song is really relaxing to listen to. This is another song that I took a screen shot of when I was listening to one of Alex Bird's mixes on YouTube. I feel like this is the song that you would be playing when someone in a movie is running through a field of something.. or a montage scene. It has a nice flow that also makes you want to get up and dance as well! If you can't tell, I like songs that are upbeat.. don't get me wrong.. I love plenty of depressing songs, but Spring is coming so I'm a big fan of those happier melodies! The hidden thing though is sometimes these happy sounding upbeat songs actually have moderately sad lyrics.. and your'e like.. what feelings am I supposed to be feeling?
Lyric Snippet:
Throw me in the water Anybody else would do Throw me in the water I was never really good for you
Didrick: Ready to Fly (Feat. Adam Young)
I've never heard of Didrick before, but Adam Young is definitely another artist that I have LOVED for many many years! I remember receiving the first EP that he ever came out with for my birthday and my brother had bought it online and burned the CD for me (does that show my age?). I was so happy!!! He is come back to music and has been putting a lot of new content out there and has also been collaborating with many different artists. How can you not enjoy his music? If you haven't guessed yet from listening to the song, this is the singer from Owl City. The techno aspect of the song is really fun, the lyrics are always thoughtful, and with anything from Owl City, you listen to the music and feel inspired!
Lyric Snippet:
Feeling the breeze move through the trees It's a beautiful night You're all that I want, you're all that I need And you light up my life
You might be thinking.. Anna this is a lot of super calm/upbeat music. Is this a little one sided.. yes... I know the songs probably sound a little similar, but when I don't have a lot of time, I normally choose some kind of indie/pop playlist and it is the kind of music that I've been drawn to lately! Hopefully you still enjoy the music though! I love almost all types of music, and I love discovering new music Let me know if you have any bands or songs that you recommend?!
Also, I know it has been a while since I've posted anything on the blog, so I thought that a post was needed!! I had a day off and so I had to make the most of the free time that I had!
Thank you so much for reading and giving me inspiration to write!
The Four Tendencies I'm not good with one liners. I know what you're thinking... Anna, you're married.. you don't need one liners, but with blogging you want to be creative with one liners because the blog titles need to be poppin'! I'll be honest, I stink at coming up with a funny title. I can quickly think of something to write about, but that title though!!!!!!! Today I am going to be talking about a book that I've been meaning to talk about for a while! In order to introduce the book I need to talk about Podcasts. For a while I was really interested in Podcasts. Recently with lessened free time, my interest has decreased, but with Podcasts, my addiction rises and then plummets... it's like a teenage relationship. While listening to a Podcast titled Happier by Gretchen Rubin she mentioned a quiz which tied into her book The Four Tendencies. Pretty much the quiz places you into one of four specific personalities. I took the quiz...
Granola: The Addiction If any of you know me well, you know I like to try new recipes! A few months ago I decided to try and make some Granola because Josh and I love to eat it and it seemed so easy. You could look up any recipe on Pinterest, but some of those granola recipes get rather tedious, so I found the simplest recipe on Pinterest and tweaked it for what I wanted! Underneath this paragraph is the image that I follow off of Pinterest. After you look at the image, check out the other renditions/add ins that I put into my granola! BTW: No one has tried my granola and said that it was not good! Let me know if you try the recipe and what variations you do! My Changes Oil Base: I have tried this recipe using butter/coconut oil and both are fabulous! It is definitely not as healthy with butter, but if you like the rich flavor that butter gives, then you will love it as your oil base. When you use butter the granola seriously tastes like pie crust! I lik...
You probably don't know this, but I am sick!!! On Tuesday I woke up with a sore throat and thought that I was fine. I decided to go to work and by the end of my shift I got into the car and had really bad body pains, a headache, I was light headed, having chills, and honestly I felt like I had been run over by a bus.. Not fun!! While driving home I had to keep telling myself "You can do this!!!" I had to say that quite a few times since the rush hour drive from center city to Jenkintown was about an hour. I got home, and let's just say things got worse. I tried taking a bath, that helped for a minute, and then I laid in bed until Josh got home. My fever was over 102 and a few decimals! Luckily I have a great husband and he bought me a coke and one of those gas stations milkshakes that your parents never let you get when you were younger! I know this is probably not the healthiest but the caffeine helped with my head, and the milkshake helped cool my over heating body!...
