My After Work Routine

 Random Thoughts:

Do you guys ever feel like you've hit a road block!? I'm slightly feeling this way about my blog right now! (Do not worry though, I will continue to write). I have been brainstorming recently on what I should write, and I've literally been drawing a blank. I have started three blog posts, partially written them, and then realized that I'm not passionate about that specific topic! I like writing about anything and everything, but I also realize that no one is going to read something that is based on random things. I feel like I probably need to get my stuff together and create some kind of theme for a weekly blog post. Some of the topics that I really enjoy are 1. cooking 2. books 3. beauty 4. nerdy things 5. T.V/Movies 6. writing in my journal and countless other topics! My problem is that if I just continue writing random things, then I'm not going to have continuity in what I'm writing..... and then people may lose interest in the blog! Let's be honest though..... I'm just doing the blog for fun, so I will continue to write for as long as I can! Now that I have blabbed on about what is on my mind, I will get onto an actual post!

AFTER WORK ROUTINE:

The first thing I want to do when I get home from work is get changed and sit on the couch. You can imagine that this is not always the best/healthiest decision (physically and mentally), so recently I have stressed the importance in taking some time for myself and creating a routine. You can easily imagine that without a routine you can quickly be sucked into poor habits. Recently I have decided to adopt somewhat of a routine for when I get home because I realized I would get home and then just plop down for the hour and a half before Josh finished up with school (not the best idea). It also did not help that I would just watch YouTube for an hour! YouTube is fun, but it shouldn't consume that much of our day!

The first thing I do when I get home is light the candle on my coffee table and turn on the Christmas tree (yes, our fake tree is still up...). In Josh's and my defense, there are few lights in our apartment and we have a white Christmas tree. It is pretty much just a fancy lamp. I also like to turn on my salt lamp.  I know that I use a lot of energy, but it brings me a lot of joy! If it is still bright in my apartment I won't turn on all of the lights, but it does get dark super early this time of year! After I turn my lights on, I will normally turn on a YouTube video. I know that this can be destructive at times, but I try to only watch YouTube videos if I am going to do be doing something at the same time. A few days ago I turned on a video and watched it while I cleaned up the kitchen. Even with just two people in the apartment, we somehow find a way to make everything dirty. Depending on what I'm cleaning, that can take a good chunk of my time. On Thursday when I got home I turned on some music and I just picked up some of the little messes around the apartment... OR THE MILLION MESSES. After doing a little task, I like to write in my journal and/or read a book. I am currently doing a 30 Day Challenge that has a bunch of random questions such as What do you wear to bed? What are 5 things that irritate you about your gender and the opposite gender (challenge picture provided). There are a lot of silly/different questions, but I feel like sometimes those are the best ones to answer! I hope that my posterity will read my journals later on and laugh. Maybe they will think that I was just a ball full of anxiety! After I answer the questions I will normally journal about my day. With starting a new job, there is a lot to write about! It is very therapeutic to write about how you feel and what is going on! Somehow I can write in my journal and just forget about the time passing by. It also really helps me change my current outlook. Writing in a journal is also a great way to document your life (Thank you captain obvious!) There are many times that I will turn to an entry in my journal and be joyfully reminded of a certain story of experience! It is cray to think about all that we forget on a daily basis!

After work I will also send a message to some of my old college roommates on Marco Polo. We
aren't always the greatest at responding, but I try my best to watch the messages every day when I get home and I try to send a message as often as I can (sometimes they might think that my messages are too long!) I don't have a ton of friends, but it is always a good thing to nourish the friendships that you do have! It is important to have friends, and I consider it pretty great for my mental health! Courtney, Katie, and I have been through so much together and talking to them through the week is definitely helpful! I love them and miss them.

After I complete all of the above tasks, it is normally time for Josh to be picked up from school. Sometimes it is hard to get home and go pick him up, but great thing is that he is ridiculously adorable, and Salus is only like 5 minutes away from our apartment! :)

BTW: I'm reading a book right now called "The Secret Ingredient of Wishes" I have loved it so far! If you like young adult novels, you will be interested in this story! Would you like to have the ability to grant wishes? Is it all that it is cracked up to be? How would it affect your life? Maybe I will create a blog post on the three books that I have read so far  this year! I'll keep you all updated!

I know that this blog post is far more scattered than normal, but I wanted to make sure that I uploaded something for all of you! It is fun to just talk about whatever I want, but I hope that all of you enjoy what I put out as well!

Thank you!
